A labiaplasty procedure is sometimes performed to treat Dyspareunia, a condition defined as painful intercourse due to medical or psychological reasons. In some cases, the medical cause can be attributed to the physical pain of enlarged labia becoming pinched during the act. In others, the psychological factor may be rooted in a patient’s feeling of embarrassment, or fear that a sexual partner will be “turned off” by what the patient considers to be oversized labia.

Labiaplasty is an outpatient procedure typically performed using local anesthesia. In some instances, general anesthesia may be appropriate, but these cases are rare, and decided on a patient-to-patient basis. During the procedure, the labia minora will be trimmed so they no longer extend past the labia majora. Soreness and swelling post-op can be present for approximately 6 – 8 weeks, but recovery times will vary.

If You Suffer from Dyspareunia, Labiaplasty May Be the Answer.
